While sealers mainly darken a concrete appearance and paints turn the surface completely opaque, stains offer a middle ground with a variety of colorful tones and textures dependent upon application. They come in two types: acid-based chemical and water-based acrylic.
-Acid base requires 4-8 hours for the reaction and color to set. This reaction creates a residue that must be cleaned off and neutralized before sealant can be laid over top.
-Acrylic goes down much quicker at 15-45 min set time with sealant being able to go down immediately after.
We have found that utilizing both can add great depth and "marbling" effects to multi colored surfaces.

Epoxy, polyurethane and polyaspartic: all three adhere firmly to concrete, making them resistant to moisture, grease, scuffing and chemicals, but epoxy is not UV stable, this means if a clear epoxy is applied to an area with direct or indirect sunlight it will "yellow"or "amber" over time.
The main difference between poly and epoxy systems is in the molecular structure of the two, which affects how the molecules fuse together during the curing process. Essentially, polyurethanes have a higher cross-link density than epoxies. Epoxy coatings are harder and offer higher impact resistance, whereas poly is a bit softer making it ideal for flexible substrates. Polyurethane's flexibility helps prevent concrete cracks transferring to the top coat which comes in handy for use on foundations.
A happy medium between the two is polyaspartic coatings which offer a balance of hardness, durability, UV resistance and the lowest amount of "VOC"makeup. The lack of "volatile organic compounds" makes it the safest option in terms of application and curing stages. With that being said, there is a time and place for all three but you can let us worry about that.

Whether the client chooses a stained concrete or to keep it natural we offer a polished finish that provides a semi gloss sheen with low reflectivity.
This is the most commonly used for industrial settings with high traffic.
ultimately during evaluation we will ask all the questions needed to determine which of the 3 clear coat technologies is right for your job.
Epoxy that is pigmented will essentially have a finish aesthetically similar to a high gloss paint it is generally one to two solid colors being completely opaque. This coating is very hard and durable and will completely cover the natural concrete as well as any striations or imperfections.
metallic epoxy coating is a mixture of pigmented epoxy and metallic flakes that add a marbled swirl to the shiny solid colors of the pigment, it is the most expensive and complex to work with, but when done properly can have extremely cool effects.
